So, I’ve been a bit of a crankypants lately.
I have all sorts of reasons why in my head. Not big OMG type things. Just…crankypants kinds of things.
It’s hot and my air conditioning isn’t working (and I am totally a winter sort of gal! Summer and me? Not the best of friends.) I’ve had a number of unexpected expenses the last couple months. Something is going on with my body and I’ve been extra fatigued and foggy-brained lately. My office stuff is still disorganized from my move 2 months ago and is crammed into a tiny closet because I haven’t figured out what to do with it yet.
See, nothing major. Little crankypants annoyances.
How I’ve felt like dealing with it lately is to crawl into bed and binge on episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t really help. Shockingly, it seems binging on additional drama, even made up drama, does NOT lighten a cranky mood. Bummer. 😉
Lately, because I’m really tired of feeling cranky, I’ve been paying extra attention to what does lighten my mood and shed the crankypants.
I was kind of expecting it to be things like resting, reading my favorite books, eating my favorite foods, taking a break and going to see a movie.
Nope. Not that. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing those things, but they weren’t helping with the crankies.
To my surprise, working has been what has banished the crankypants feeling the best. Working with my awesome clients. Working out by running or going to the gym. Working on my much-loved Invisible Mothers project.
Then I realized it wasn’t just working that lifts my mood – it’s working at what I love that gives me a mood boost. When I’m doing the work I love, I feel most centered, most connected, and most happy.
So, I’m going to do what I’m not terribly good at generally speaking 🙂 I’m asking for your help. I’ve got some space available to work with both local (Asheville, NC & Johnson City, TN) and distance (anywhere else) clients – and I’d love if you would consider working with me OR recommending me to someone you know who might be interested in working with me.
I would love to do more of what I love!
How about you? Are you doing what you love? Why or why not?
